Last week, it was reported that X-Men: Apocalypse will most likely mark Nicholas Hoult’s final performance as Beast for the franchise. Now, in a new interview with MTV, co-star Jennifer Lawrence is stating the same thing. Though, where Nicholas Hoult claimed he’d return if asked, Jennifer Lawrence seems pretty confident that this latest franchise sequel will mark her last appearance as shape shifter Mystique. When asks if she is done after her third go at the character, she quite simply states:
“It is my last one. Yes.”
Bryan Singer is set to return for X-Men: Apocalypse, which is confirmed to take place in the 80s. While no other story details have been released, it has long been confirmed that the movie will serve as the end of a trilogy which began with 2011’s X-Men: First Class and continued in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. While it is pretty clear that both Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will return for X-Men: Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox has not yet confirmed the main cast for the movie.
Those who have been confirmed are mostly new actors, which include Oscar Isaac as the title villain, Alexandra Shipp as Young Storm, Sophie Turner as Young Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as young Scott Summer (aka Cyclops) and Kodi Smit-McPhee as young Nightcrawler. Rose Byrne, who last appeared in X-Men: First Class, will reprise her role as ex-CIA agent Moira MacTaggert. It remains to be seen if these newest additions to the cast will appear in future installments of the franchise, but that is very likely. What do you think about this being Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence’s final X-Men movie? Is it too soon to see them go?
X-Men: Apocalypse comes to theaters May 27th, 2016 and stars Oscar Isaac, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Rose Byrne, Kodi Smit-McPhee. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.
