During tonight’s star-studded event honoring Elle’s Women in Hollywood, several famous faces took to the stage to deliver powerful speeches about the injustices they have faced over the years.
Dianne Ladd, Kristen Stewart and more were on hand to not only honor the special women in attendance, but to speak about the hurdles they faced during the early days of their career.
But it was Jennifer Lawrence’s speech that seemed to have garnered the most attention for her horrifying account of being asked to lose 15 pounds in two weeks when she first started out in Tinsletown.
The Oscar-winning actress explained how a producer asked her to do a nude lineup for the role and to subsequently use the naked photograph as part of her inspiration to lose the weight they deemed necessary to play the part.
J.Law added that she felt “trapped” by the entire experience.
“In a perfect world, every human being should have the power to be treated with respect because they’re human,” she told the audience while tearing up.
Just last week, the A-lister released the following statement in the wake of the allegations made against Harvey Weinstein.
“I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behavior. I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting. My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward.”
Jennifer Lawrence is adding her voice to the chorus of women speaking out against Harvey Weinstein amid allegations of decades of sexual misconduct.
In a statement released to PEOPLE, Lawrence said she was “deeply disturbed” to hear of the allegations against the Hollywood mogul.
“I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behavior,” she said. “I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting.”
She continued: “My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward.”
Lawrence, 27, won an Oscar in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook, which was produced by Weinstein. She also thanked Weinstein during her Golden Globes acceptance speech for the film.
“Harvey, thank you for killing whoever you had to kill to get me up here today,” Lawrence said.
Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Kate Winslet and more have all voiced their disapproval of Weinstein’s alleged conduct.
On Sunday, Weinstein was removed from his powerhouse film studio in the wake of the publication of the allegations in a New York Times report, according to Variety.
“In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company — Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar — have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the Weinstein Company said in a statement.
In the Times article, eight women — including actress Ashley Judd — spoke out against Weinstein, accusing him of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior. The Times also reported that Weinstein reached private settlements with eight women, including actress Rose McGowan.
Weinstein responded to the allegations in the report, saying he was working with a therapist to address his issues head-on. “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it,” he said. “Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.”
The mogul’s then-attorney Lisa Bloom said in a statement that her client “denies many of the accusations as patently false,” though Weinstein said that he “bear[s] responsibility for my actions” in an interview to The New York Post on Friday. Another lawyer for Weinstein, Charles Harder, said the mogul has plans to sue the New York Times.

Jennifer Lawrence is ready to step back from acting.
The “mother!” star announced her decision on “Today” Thursday morning.
“I’m taking [a break]. I don’t have anything set for two years,” Lawrence, 27, revealed to Savannah Guthrie.
The former “Hunger Games” star isn’t sure how she’ll spend her time off — though she did seem intrigued by Guthrie’s suggestion of spending more time in sweatpants — but she does have one idea.
“Start making pots,” Lawrence joked.
The actress also discussed the drawbacks of fame in her interview.
“I was angry and resentful because I thought that I deserved the right to do what I love and do my job and then still have privacy. And then after a few years you’re like but that’s not the way it is,” Lawrence said. “It’s important to just keep a separation and know that the people who are screaming outside a premier, they’re screaming because of a job and a character…I don’t put any stock in it. ”
Lawrence — who is currently dating “mother!” director Darren Aronofsky — called her latest role “much darker” than what she normally takes on and disclosed that she had to listen to Christmas music to get out of the film’s mindset.
“I threw the script and was like I can’t have this in my house. I don’t want this in my home. It’s an assault. It’s really assaulting,” she said. “But that’s what makes it a masterpiece and that’s what makes Darren so brilliant and that’s why I’ve always wanted to work with him.”
Though she’s taking a break now, Lawrence’s fans shouldn’t worry about the star’s complete disappearance. She still has a few projects left to promote, including next year’s “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.”
“I’ll see you in six months,” she quipped at the close of the interview.
