Famed director David O. Russell went on a tear against Jennifer Lawrence and Harvey Weinstein during the filming of the movie “Joy” … this according to an eyewitness on the set.

We’re told there was a loud argument Tuesday on the Boston set between David and Jennifer, and it started over a scene. The eyewitness says David started screaming at her … it was ear-piercing and laced with profanities.

A rep for the movie’s studio — Fox 2000 — tells us yes, there was screaming, but it was all method acting. David was just getting J. Law amped-up for a scene in which she screams at someone.

But it doesn’t end there. We’re also told Miramax honcho Harvey Weinstein showed up on the set Wednesday to say hi to Jennifer, but David ordered him to leave. Harvey got as far as the makeup trailer before getting booted.

The studio rep says Harvey was told Tuesday things were moving at warp speed and his visit would be a distraction, but he showed up anyway … unannounced.

And the eyewitness tells us a major exec for Fox was reamed out by David because she was trying to defend the line producer who David wants to fire. The eyewitness says it got so bad the exec started crying. The studio rep says that’s ridiculous … there was a “heated” argument over the line producer, but she didn’t cry.

You may recall David’s nuclear argument with Lily Tomlin during filming of “I Heart Huckabees.”

The Hunger Games actress and Guardians of the Galaxy actor are in early talks to join the film, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Morten Tyldum, the director of this year’s award-season contender The Imitation Game, has nearly closed a deal to direct the film.

One of the hurdles facing Lawrence’s deal is her complicated schedule.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 hits theaters on Nov. 20, and Lawrence is starring in David O. Russell’s Joy, set for release on Christmas Day.

She also will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is scheduled for a May 2016 release.

Along with appearing in the sequel to Marvel’s Guardians, Pratt is the lead in Universal’s Jurassic World, which arrives in theaters June 12.

Sony project Passengers is set on a spacecraft making a journey that takes more than a century. The screenplay for the title is by Jon Spaihts, who previously worked on Prometheus and is writing Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

Variety first reported the news about Lawrence’s offer.

Jennifer Lawrence may have just wrapped work on the fourth installment of “The Hunger Games” franchise, however, the actress reveals that she’s taken to her role as Katniss Everdeen in the wildly popular book-to-film series despite the fact that it’s slowly coming to an end.

Mirror reports that despite the grueling process of filming and promoting each movie, Lawrence admits that she’s going to miss her character, in addition to co-star Liam Hemsworth.

“I think we’re done with the press tour. I’ve got, like, one more thing to shoot for ‘Hunger Games.’ We just have one scene to do for the end,” she told reporters.

“I’m not happy about it at all,” she continued. “I would totally do [more movies]. And now Liam’s doing a movie in Australia for two months. It’s the longest that the three of us have ever spent apart.”

Previously, Lawrence opened up about her co-stars to Nylon magazine, telling the publication, “If all I had was this friendship with Josh [Hutcherson] and Liam–if that’s all I ever got from this–I would consider it a blessing. Our lives changed together and we had each other.”

On speaking about her close friendship with Hemsworth, Lawrence admits, “I guess the thing that surprised me is that I would never expect to ever have a man this good-looking ever be my best friend. I just would never assume those things could happen, but he is. He’s the most wonderful, lovable, family-oriented, sweet, hilarious, amazing guy,” she reveals.

“Oh my God … I feel like I’m going to cry.”

That was Jennifer Lawrence’s reaction to Eddie Redmayne’s shocking confession: the Golden Globe winner admits he’s a huge fan of a certain reality TV franchise.

“I come home from trying to pretend to know about astronomy and physics all day and turn on The Real Housewives,” The Theory of Everything star, 33, jokes with Lawrence in the February issue of Interview.

“You watch Real Housewives, Eddie?” Lawrence, 24, responds incredulously.

“I’ve been a closet lover of faux-reality TV since The Hills,” he admits. “It’s bad.”

That’s when the two award-winning actors discovered they have a lot more in common than just a few Golden Globes between them.

“I went to Pump the other night to meet [restaurateur and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star] Lisa Vanderpump,” Lawrence says. “I had her sign a bottle of vodka, and when she gave it to my friend who was with me at the Oscars, my friend said, ‘Jennifer, this is so much better than the Oscars!’ ”

“We took so many pictures with her,” she continues. “We were like, [referring to Season 4 of the show] ‘Puerto Rico was a witch-hunt. Brandi [Glanville] and Kyle [Richards] were so mean!'”

“I can’t believe the intricacies of their lives,” Redmayne says. “I want to know how much of it’s a sham, how much of it is directed.”

“Me too! That’s why we’re fascinated by it, because, movies, I’m bored with,” Lawrence jokes.

Redmayne’s favorite show isn’t a current one, however.

“I’m a bit vintage. I go back to The Hills,” he explains. “Occasionally Audrina or Whitney will be on a website that I shouldn’t be looking at, and I’m like, ‘You know, I just want to check that they’re doing all right, because it’s my youth.’ ”

Turns out Lawrence is a bit of a Hills fanatic herself. “MTV sometimes plays them for, like, three hours, and that will just turn into my morning. Like, I’ll cancel s—,” she adds.
